These locks feature a design that allows them to lock vinyl and aluminum framed single-hungs, double-hungs and horizontal sliding windows without the need of a keeper. Each lock features a cam-type locking mechanism with a hook latch that mounts on the checkrail of the innermost sash and engages into the checkrail of the outermost sash. The upper, outermost sash on vertical sliding windows determines if it is a “single hung” or “double hung.” If the upper, outermost sash is non-movable, then it is a single hung window. A “double hung” window refers to both sash having the ability to slide up and down for ventilation purposes, and these sash locks can fit on both model types, in addition to some left/right horizontal sliding windows. The locks are constructed of diecast zinc and come in a corrosion-resistant, industry standard, white-painted finish to match other existing hardware that may already be in the home or office. Depending on the size of the sash, these locks can be used as singles or in pairs. Each set includes one lock, installation fasteners and simple instructions. Installation of these locks is quick and easy and can be done with a simple handheld Phillips head screwdriver. Other design features include a 5/8 inch latch projection, cam-action fastening, and 2-1/4 inch mounting hole centers.
