Sealants
FHC Construction Sealants offer a diverse selection of Sealing Joints
options tailored for various construction needs. This
lineup encompasses Structural and Non-Structural
Silicones, Polyurethanes, Acrylic Latex with Silicone,
and Butyl Rubber Sealants.
Structural Silicone Glazing, for instance, is a technique
that employs silicone to securely attach glass or other EXCELLENT
panels to supporting frames, eliminating the need for ADHESION
external retainers or covers. These joints in structural
silicone glazing must withstand forces stemming from
wind, thermal expansion, and building shifts. Over
time, this method has seen advancements in materials,
performance, and sustainability. Weatherproofing
INTERIOR/
Non-Structural Building Silicones, on the other hand, EXTERIOR USE
may feature low VOC emissions, making them safe
for use in sensitive indoor settings like hospitals and
schools.
Polyurethanes, recognized for their high-performance
attributes, exhibit joint flexibility of up to ± 25% and
more, rendering them ideal for various applications, NON-SAG
including perimeter caulking around windows and
doors (excluding glass). They often come at a more
budget-friendly cost compared to silicones, providing
excellent adhesion to diverse surfaces and the option Metal Panels
for painting.
Acrylic Latex with Silicone Caulk, being water-based,
facilitates easy cleanup. These sealants find common
use in residential and light commercial construction
projects, both indoors and outdoors, thanks to their
relatively lower movement capability. They can usually
be painted shortly after application.
Butyl Rubber Sealants excel in adhering to most
substrates and demonstrate impressive weather
resistance. However, due to their limited movement
capability, they are best suited for applications with Perimeter Caulking
minimal movement, such as lap seams of metal panels
and concealed window frame joints. Similar to the
other sealants mentioned, Butyl Rubber Sealants can
be painted after they have fully cured.
