Seal and One-Part Silicone

Secondary Seal Method

When fabricating a dual sealed unit with Silicone Application:
FHC Silicone Insulating Glass Sealant Apply Silicone to the edges
Item No. 1G9542, follow these steps: with a caulking gun, ensuring
it penetrates the spacer
PIB Tape Application: shoulders for a proper seal.
Apply PIB Tape (Item No. P1B210) to one Focus on the corners but avoid
side of the assembled spacer frame as excessive sealant that could
instructed, for the Primary Seal. displace the spacer.

Silicone Sealant Application: Excess Sealant Removal:
Use FHC Silicone Insulating Glass After curing, remove excess
Sealant Item No. IG9542, available silicone with a razor blade,

Clamping Units:
Ensure a tight seal by clamping the
glass units on all sides using Spring
Clamps with vinyl-coated jaws.

using wood blocks or paper, with wood
blocks for different-sized units and
paper for units of the same size
(max 15 larger units).
Spacer
Check for Newton Ring:
Inspect the bottom units of the stack for Primary Seal
(PIB)
a “Newton Ring” effect in the center of
the unit. This occurs when two pieces of Desiccant
glass are in contact. Secondary
Sealant
If you observe a Newton Ring, flip the
affected units upright and repair them
before transport to prevent permanent
rub marks.
